Copper Country Coders is always looking for new students to help us out in the classroom. As a leader or assistant, your job is pretty basic, but extremely rewarding! Depending on how much you want to commit, you could be simply showing up on Saturdays and helping the kids out with whatever they are doing, or you could be designing the weekly sessions and teach in front of the whole class. No matter what you do, you will be improving your debugging, public speaking, and leadership skills. You will get a better understanding of how to write understandable code, work in teams, and better express your creative coding skills. And most important of all, you will create friendships with the kids and the other teachers that could last through your whole career here at Michigan Tech.
Don’t just take our word for it, here’s what our graduates have to say about their Coders experience.
“Being a member of the Copper Country Coders has been one of my favorite experiences of being a CS student at Michigan Tech. I’ve always enjoyed leading and helping others learn and succeed. Coders not only helped me become a better programmer through research and understanding of the concepts that I would end up teaching, but it also has made me a better leader and communicator. On top of all that, the people in the organization have become good acquaintances that I’m glad I made, and our advisors are always willing and able to answer any questions and help us succeed in any way they can. I’m happy to be a member and I would 100% recommend joining to any student in CS or interested in CS.”
